- VirtualBox 6.1.2 will not run Catalina 10.15.2 and later guests Virtualbox 6.1.0 added support for booting APFS. Unfortunately there is a problem if you do not have 10.15.1 version of Install macOS Catalina.app. There is a bug in VirtualBox which is exposed by 10.15.2 and later versions of boot.efi.
- Step 1: Extract macOS Catalina VMDK Image Now, you should have downloaded macOS Catalina VMDK & VirtualBox code from the link above. Once macOS Catalina is downloaded, you should extract the Image file via WinRAR or 7zip to a new drive or a new folder.

Apr 01, 2020 I won’t say this is the way to install macOS Catalina on VirtualBox, but it’s certainly a way, and it’s difficult to find information about a way to do it. There are a lot of posts indicating that 10.15 or 10.15.1 worked but 10.15.2 and beyond don’t. Or that there are difficulties with VirtualBox and APFS.
